The brief from Coutts Cars was simple, nothing obtrusive but with an even sound throughout the building and the ability to play different sources in different areas of the building, ranging from Juice TV to music stored on a PC. Coutts Cars also wanted a projector and audio in their reception area to show live racing and DVD’s.
 
Our main challenge with this install was the building itself. The ceilings are extremely high, with a lower false ceiling made out of aluminum. As this was a retrofit install, consideration had to be made in regards to what fittings were already installed.
 
JBL Control 24C and Control 26C in-ceiling speakers were chosen for installation. In order for them to be as unobtrusive as possible, they were all painted to match the aluminum false ceiling. The hard part was mounting the speakers; they couldn’t be mounted in the aluminum as it was not strong enough to hold them in place. Every speaker had to be suspended using drop wires ranging 1-2m from the actual ceiling.
 
To deal with the audio sources a Zonepro641 was chosen. This was able to include their existing audio and then extend to extra zones for the reception area and waiting area and outer showroom. Volume controls were installed in all areas.
 
For this installation we used the following: 1 x GX3 QSC Amplifier, 4 x Control 24C, 4 x Control 26Cand 2 x Control25AV-WH JBL in-ceiling speakers, 2 x RMX850 QSC Amplifiers, a dbx Zonepro641 zone processor and 2 x dbsource select controllers.
